myofascial Release - Trigger point TherapY

Myofascial release / trigger point therapy is a powerful form of massage therapy that can gently release what we think of as "knots” in our muscles. This type of therapeutic massage is especially helpful for those experiencing chronic pain/ soreness/ and tightness in their muscles, as well as areas where you may be experiencing a limited range of motion.

This method has been used to help relieve conditions such as: lower back pain, chronically tight shoulders/neck, deep hip pain, tension headaches, poor posture, tendonitis, plantar fasciitis, sciatica, migraines, tennis elbow, carpel tunnel, frozen shoulder, and trigger finger.

Deep Tissue Massage

A more therapeutic massage technique,  deep tissue massage provides deeper pressure than a regular Swedish massage.  It is a more focused type of massage whereby the therapist may focus on specific areas of the body for an extended period of time in order to release chronic muscle tension or adhesions ("knots") found in those areas. Deep tissue massage work will generally be more intense and even slightly painful at times.

Sports MASSAGE

Sports massage helps athletes prepare their bodies for optimal performance, recover afterwards from an event or function properly during training. Sports massage emphasizes prevention and healing of injuries.  Special stretching techniques, connective tissue massage, and trigger point therapy are often used in a Sports Massage session.

Acupressure MASSAGE

Acupressure is an ancient form of healing that involves the use of fingers to press key points on the surface of the skin to stimulate the body's natural ability to heal itself.  Pressing on these points can relieve tension which promotes circulation of blood and "chi" - the vital energy or "life force".  An acupressure massage includes the application of pressure to these points as well as a regular massage strokes and relaxation techniques.

Pregnancy Massage

Having a massage while pregnant can be more than just relaxing.  Other potential benefits include reduced swelling, pain relief, better sleep, and decreases in anxiety and depression.  Offered only during second and third trimesters, as massage in contraindicated for the first trimester.  If you are seeking relaxation and comfort during the first trimester, you may wish to try a Reiki session.  (see below)

Reiki / Energy Work

What is Reiki?  Reiki is a Japanese healing technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that there is an unseen "life force energy" (Qi) that flows through us and is what causes us to be alive.  (Note: A Reiki session can be done fully clothed.)
